National Winners
Twenty student members of Huron’s Business Professionals of America (BPA) Chapter, led by advisors Christy Garrett and Jonathan Cook, traveled to Dallas, Texas May 8th to May 13th, 2018 to compete in the BPA National Leadership Conference. The group accomplished great things representing Huron High School and Michigan on the National Stage, with Michigan winning the most competitive event awards compared to any other state.
A total of 5,567 students representing 25 states and the territory of Puerto Rico participated in Business Professionals of America’s 52nd National Leadership Conference.
This year, 18 out of the 20 Huron members placed within the top-ten in the Nation in their respective events. Below, we will recognize each student for their outstanding effort at the National Leadership Conference!

State Winners
CONGRATULATIONS to our members of Huron’s Business Professionals of America Chapter! Christy Garrett, Jonathan Cook, Allison Andres, Melissa Gordon, Karen Eisley, and John Eisley and 55 members of the Business Professionals of America Huron Chapter traveled to the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids from March 15th-18th to compete against many other schools in Michigan at the 2018 BPA State conference.
The chapter took home a total of 17 awards. They received one 1st place award, seven 2nd place awards, two 3rd place awards, one 4th place award, and four 5th place awards, in addtion to one silver medal and two bronze medals in open events! Furthermore, 14 members received the Statesman Torch Award, an accolade given to students who demonstrate outstanding community service, leadership, faith, patriotism, and friendship.
Also, Congratulations to Nathan Lee, who was elected as president of Michigan BPA for the 2018-19 year, and his campaign managers Shreya Banda and Drew Rosales!

Regional Winners

Christy Garrett, Jonathan Cook, Allison Andres, Karen Eisley and over 90 members of the Business Professionals of America Huron Chapter traveled to Henry Ford Community College on Friday, January 5th to compete against 23 other schools and 780 students in the BPA Regional 6 Conference.
There were thirty-seven 1st place awards, twenty-one 2nd place awards, twenty- two 3rd place awards, seventeen 4th place awards, nineteen 5th place awards, and ten 6th place awards! Additionally, twenty-four received the Diplomat Torch Award. This gives a grand total of 126 awards among 63 winners advancing to the State Leadership Conference this year!
We would also like to extend a special thanks to Huron Staff Members Carrie James and Amy Van Appledorn for volunteering as judges during the Regional Leadership Conference.
